Haters all say the same thing when we beat them, that it was “the refs fault.”
The refs this, the refs that, blah blah blah.
I have to ask, did the refs make the Chiefs oline play as bad as they did? Did they cause the injuries that put them in that position? Did they make the Chiefs line up offsides after holding us to a field goal? Did they make the Chiefs commit multiple other penalties that were indisputable? Did they make Chiefs receivers drop multiple passes, including touchdowns? Did they make the Chiefs coaching staff not adjust at ALL to what the Bucs were doing for the entire game? Did they make Britt Reid act like a damn idiot and create a massive distraction before the game?
Sure there were a couple calls that were questionable or maybe even just plain bad, but there were uncalled penalties that were just as bad.
Those calls were not a 22 point difference.
And that’s just the Chiefs.
Green Bay, New Orleans, and Washington fans all tried blaming the refs as well.
Yes, the Packers who got away with several false starts on the SAME drive among many other things lost because of…the refs? The refs who did their job when calling an absolute blatant pass interference penalty on them late in the game? The Packers, who got a whopping six points off THREE STRAIGHT INTERCEPTIONS by Tom Brady?
The Saints?
The same Saints who could probably be called for either defensive holding or pass interference on nearly every play? The same Saints who had to bring in Jameis on a trick play just so they could throw the ball more than ten yards? The same Saints who had FOUR turnovers in that game?
Please.
Washington?
You wanna complain about the refs in THAT game?
The refs in that game stole a CLEAR forced fumble AND recovery from the Bucs, they called an absolutely ridiculous horse-collar penalty that literally didn’t happen. And I still say that one touchdown should have been called incomplete, he was bobbling the ball as he went out.
Yes our defense had some trouble with Taylor Heinicke, but some of that was not really knowing what to expect from him and the rest was Devin White being out (see what he did the rest of the playoffs for proof of that one).
Besides, the only reason they were in that game is because we had so many drops that it probably took a couple TDs off the board.
Oh, and if we’re complaining about the refs in Bucs games, how about that 2003 Monday Night Football game against the Colts (that never happened) that the NFL apologized for because it ACTUALLY DID CHANGE THE OUTCOME?
You can’t blame the refs when you lose by 22 and don’t even score a touchdown.
You can’t blame the refs when you have three straight interceptions and don’t do anything with them.
You can’t blame the refs when your QB can’t throw more than ten yards and is responsible for three of your four turnovers.
And you can’t blame the refs when your nameless team gets more calls that benefit you than the other team.
We won each of those games because we made plays when it mattered, played more physical, and our defense stepped up big time.
If I rolled my eyes any farther when I see things like “The NFL RIGGED the Super Bowl for Tom Brady” on Youtube I’d be looking at the inside of my skull.
Give me a break.
