The Bucs made a few trades in this draft, ending up with eight total picks. I don’t do film breakdowns at all so don’t expect a lot of analysis here.
After trading out of the first round they got Logan Hall in the second round. Who will be called a bust by know-it-all Bucs fans because he’s not Warren Sapp 2.0.
There was no Warren Sapp 2.0 in this draft, and if there was he’d be gone before the Bucs picked.
Also in the second the Bucs drafted offensive lineman Luke Goedeke, an overall good move though somewhat unexpected by a lot of people. Like always the most obnoxious and negative know-it-all Twitter GMs and comment section idiots mouthed off about it. While people who break down film for a living praised the player.
Jason Licht knows how to draft offensive linemen.
In the third they got a running back who can catch, Rachaad White out of Arizona State. As we all know Tom Brady HATES running backs that can catch, so this is OBVIOUSLY a terrible pick.
No, no, it’s not.
Just a bit early if anything.
With the 106th pick, from the trade with the Jaguars, they took TE Cade Otton from Washington. A willing blocker that can also catch.
Bucs fans, being unable or unwilling to see the reasoning behind it, melted down on Reddit, Twitter and in every comment section after they drafted Georgia punter Jake Camarda with their second fourth round pick. A player that could end up saving the Bucs 2.9 million dollars by being able to cut Pinion, and who appears to overall fit what they wanted better than the “Punt God” everyone was talking about.
Which could help the team re-sign (remember re-sign and resign are very different words) Suh and Gronk.
Bucs fans calmed down a bit after the Bucs traded up into the fifth round to take Sam Houston State CB Zyon McCollum. A very fast corner that was likely overlooked simply due to not being on a big-time SEC team. He could contribute on special teams while being developed to work out some of his weaknesses.
In the sixth round they took the best pick of the entire draft.
The best blocking tight end in the draft.
Ko Kieft out of Minnesota.
He’s not fast, he doesn’t catch a lot of passes, but he will block the SHIT out of his target.
And he has glorious hair just like Ryan Jensen.
BEST PICK EVER.
In the seventh the Bucs got some defensive line/edge depth with Andre Anthony from LSU.
